One week in india

It’s now been one week in India, time has not flown here. Instead each moment has taken an eternity. There is Magic here that cannot be described, and much of that magic is in the misery. Yet in the midst of all this the people simply smile and live.

This journey for me is of self discovery, a term I had scoffed at in my life. But now one I am beginning to understand more each day.
For over 50 years I have wandered through my life looking for external answers to internal problems. All I found was confusion. No I am not about to declare after 7 days I have found answers, but at times here I have found some peace.

The picture here are from Varanasi and Chennai.
Varanasi is one of the oldest cities on earth, it sits on the river Ganges and is by all descriptions the door to heaven for Hindus.
Everyday hundreds of people are brought here to be cremated in ceremonies that have stood the test of time and remained the same.
While the ceremonies are complicated in description they are simple in philosophy, it is all about passage.

India is a country that assaults your senses, noise never stops, it is so crowded that at times your feel suffocated. It collapses in on top of you and offers no relief.
Yet in this ocean of what feels like complete irreverence I have found some sort of tranquility I cannot fathom and I feel a real stillness.

Today I am off to Oneness University, for days of intense meditation and teachings.
Until later – Namaste.
